Emergency dentistry at Lambton Dental

When a tooth suddenly hurts, breaks or bleeds, the goal is simple: settle the pain, work out what is happening and give you a written plan. Call before arriving so the team can prepare.

A calm dentist in navy scrubs leans in reassuringly toward a relieved-looking patient in the dental chair in a bright modern operatory.

At Lambton Dental in West Toronto we keep same-day slots each weekday for urgent problems. The dentist assesses the tooth, controls the pain and provides a written plan before any larger treatment begins. Choose the situation that fits below, or call (416) 666-3700 as early in the day as you can.

Common questions
What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe toothache, swelling around a tooth, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown with pain, or bleeding that won't stop. If you're unsure, call and the team will help you decide.

What if a tooth has been knocked out?

Rinse it gently in milk or clean water, hold it by the crown, and if possible place it back in its socket. If not, keep it in milk. Call the office right away — the first hour matters most.

Do you drain abscesses on the same day?

Where a tooth is clearly abscessed and it is safe to do so, the dentist drains the abscess and controls the pain at the same-day visit. Antibiotics are prescribed only when clinically indicated.

What if the emergency happens outside of hours?

Leave a message on the office line and return the next business day. If you have significant facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing, please go to a hospital emergency department.

Do you accept CDCP for emergency care?

Yes. Lambton Dental is a provider for the Canadian Dental Care Plan and CDCP covers eligible emergency exams and X-rays. We confirm coverage before the visit and explain any co-payment openly.
